The installation «Seeking Inwardly» gives an explorative insight into an inner world cosmos entrapped in itself, similar to the hollow earth theory. Seeking Inwardly is a journey into a strange world created by the artist, which is comparable to the subconsciousness or hidden inner being of every human being, locate to the human aspect in a novel transformed virtual contexts.
From the centre to the outer crust, the recipient navigates and explores spaces with virtual objects, symbols and abstract formations, each of which is surrounded by associating sounds scapes, which the artist himself experienced. Michel Winterberg works with specially created 3D scans of personal objects and body parts of himself. These scans contain imperfect artifacts which draws attention to the narrow line between perfectionism and imperfections between human and technology.
The central platform is a QR code, which originates from the artist’s personal data. If one leaves the outer boundary of the hollow world, which represents a slowly rotating moon surface from the inside, one is thrown back into the centre.
Navigation is done by hand movements in the air, with which one moves like an airplane exploring the virtual 3D world. For this work, 3D red-cyan anaglyph glasses and headphones must be worn. The space required when using a display is 1m x 1.5m or with a projection of 2.5m x 2.5m.
* In the outdated idea of the inner world cosmos, which is also called hollow earth theory, we live on the inside of a hollow earth. According to this theory, the planets, the sun and the stars are located in the center of this sphere.

Die Installation „Seeking Inwardly“ gibt einen explorativen Einblick in einen in sich gefangenen Innenweltkosmos, ähnlich wie in der Innenwelttheorie *. Seeking Inwardly ist eine Reise in eine vom Künstler erschaffene fremde Welt welche vergleichbar mit dem Unterbewusstsein oder dem verborgenen inneren Wesen jedes Menschen ist.
Vom Zentrum bis an die Aussenkruste navigiert und erkundet der Rezipient Räume mit virtuellen Objekten, Symbolen und abstrakten Formationen, welche jeweils mit zugehörigen Klanglandschaften umgeben sind.
Ästhetisch arbeitet Michel Winterberg mit eigens erstellten 3D-Scanns von persönlichen Objekten und Körperteilen von sich selbst, welche unvollkommene Artefakte beinhalten. Als zentrale Plattform dient ein QR-Code, welcher aus Personaldaten des Künstlers stammen. Verlässt man die äussere Grenze der Hohlwelt, welche eine langsam rotierende Mondoberfläche von innen darstellt, wird man wieder in das Zentrum zurückgeworfen.
Die Navigation erfolgt durch Handbewegungen in der Luft, mit der man sich wie ein Flugzeug erforschend in der virtuellen 3D-Welt bewegt. Für diese Arbeit muss eine 3D-rot-cyan-Anaglyphenbrille und Kopfhörer angezogen werden. Der Platzbedarf bei Verwendung eines Displays ist 1m x 1.5m oder mit einer Projektion 2.5m x 2.5m
* In der überholten Vorstellung vom Innenweltkosmos, welche auch Innenwelttheorie oder Innenweltbild genannt wird, leben wir auf der Innenseite einer hohlen Erde. Die Planeten, die Sonne und die Sterne befinden sich nach dieser Theorie im Zentrum dieser Kugel.
